About United Nations University-Kirin Fellowship
The United Nations University-Kirin Fellowship, continued from 1993 to 2016, was the program that supported food science and technology research development with the purpose of empowering developing countries to solve their food-related issues.
Every year, we welcomed five fellows, selected by research institutions and United Nations University (UNU), from the developing countries in Asia. We provided a supportive research environment in Japan. The fellows conducted research on their individual themes for a year under the guidance of the Food Research Institute of the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in Tsukuba, Ibaraki prefecture.
We supported 117 researchers from 10 countries for 24 years until the end of the program in 2016.
